Network Encoders

Agility Video Agility Video manufactures compact network video encoder units built to capture analog video - from sources like standard NTSC CCTV cameras - and compresses it using the multi-layer, multi-resolutional JPEG 2000 format. The unit then sends the compressed video data stream over a standard TCP/IP network connection to a server PC for storage, viewing, or redistribution. Supporting standard network services, such as DHCP, DNS, NTP, HTTP, RTP and FTP, the encoders can provide high quality compressed video through the integrated web server, over a streaming TCP/IP socket or over a UDP/RTP multicast streaming connection. The units include additional circuitry for de-interlacing, de-noising, color transition improvement, and contrast enhancement for improving overall picture quality and compression efficiency. All of our encoders capture and compress video at full frame rate on all channels simultaneously: they capture NTSC video at 720x490 at 30 frames per second / PAL video at 720x525 at 25 frames per second, on each channel. They can be configured for any frame rate / resolution data rate independently by channel. Additional features include area of interest motion detection by channel, external alarm I/O contacts, and an integrated network serial terminal server for remote PTZ control.

Agility VideoMost CCTV installations have existing NTSC or PAL format analog cameras – upgrading such systems to IP based digital video can be as easy as attaching a network encoder to the existing cameras, and running NVR software on a PC networked to the unit. Additional IP cameras can then be easily added to the system, or incorporated with stand-alone DVRs. Because the unit is small, and has low power consumption, the unit can be co-located with cameras, to reduce cabling costs and system complexity. Agility Video includes software for integration with Windows Media Player, standard browsers, and will work with Mac OS X.

Agility Video currently has an 8 channel unit, J1008, available for sale (see the datasheet. Additional designs are available; see Custom Products.
